Bill McLaren

Television Commentator
16 October 1923 to 19 January 2010

With authoritative tones and a distinctive turn of phrase McLaren was the BBC’s voice of rugby, first on radio and then on television. Tellingly his last Six Nations commentary ended with a chorus of For He’s A Jolly Good Fellow sung from all corners of the ground in his honour.
