A founder member of the Amber Film Collective, Martin was a socially committed filmmaker whose concerns reflected working class life in the north east. His films include dramas and documentaries, work such as Keeping Time (1983), Seacoal (1985), Double Vision (1986), T. Dan Smith (1987) and In Fading Light (1989).
