Responsible for the perennial hit Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas in the Vincente Minnelli film Meet Me In St Louis (1944), Martin also wrote – often in partnership with Ralph Blane – for such other musicals as Thousands Cheer (1943), Ziegfield Follies (1945), Good News (1947), The Girl Most Likely (1958).
