An actor who found particular success in villainous roles, Lynch bore the scars of a drug fuelled accident from the 1960s which gave him a menacing air. He was familiar to movie audiences for his roles in Scarecrow (1973), The Sword & The Sorcerer (1982) and Rob Zombie’s Halloween (2007).
