As a comic actress, Laye was closely associated with the Carry On series, despite only appearing in four, Carry on Cruising (1962) and Carry on Spying (1964) among them. A versatile talent, her work embraced classical stage roles, television soaps and sitcoms including ITV’s Chintz (1981), which she also wrote.
