A versatile Japanese actress associated with edgy, convention-challenging roles, Kishida was born into an artistic family. Her breakthrough came in Kon Ichikawa's Her Brother (1960), with her other films including Ten Dark Women (1961), Woman of the Dunes (1964), School For Sex (1965) and The Face of Another (1966).
