An American filmmaker who found particular success working on films made for television, Johnson directed My Sweet Charlie (1970), The Execution of Private Slovik (1974) and the mini-series Wallenberg: A Hero’s Story (1985). His cinema features include The McKenzie Break (1970), A Gunfight (1971) and The Last American Hero (1973).
