A British character actress, Jayne appeared in such films as Raising the Wind (1961) and On the Beat (1962). Her extensive television credits included ATV's William Tell and later, under the pseudonym Jay Fairbank, she wrote the screenplays for Tales That Witness Madness (1973) and Son of Dracula (1974).
