A military historian whose knowledge of and enthusiasm for his subject was effectively conveyed in several popular television series, Holmes presented War Walks (1996), War Walks 2 (1997), The Western Front (1999), Wellington: the Iron Duke (2002), Rebels and Redcoats (2003) and In The Footsteps of Churchill (2005) among others.
