A familiar face if never quite a household name, Hill originated the stage role of the browbeaten married professor in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?. On film he offered dependable support in The Ugly American (1962), In the Cool of the Day (1963), Harper (1966) and The Andromeda Strain (1970).
