London born writer-director Guest tackled an astonishing range of films, from Will Hay comedies and B-movie thrillers, to family films and Hammer classics. The latter included The Quatermass Xperiment (1955), with subsequent films including Expresso Bongo (1959), Hell Is A City (1960) and The Day The Earth Caught Fire (1961).
