A popular British character actor, Griffiths won a BAFTA nomination for The History Boys (2006). He was best known for playing Uncle Monty in Withnail & I (1987) and Uncle Vernon in the Harry Potter films, as well as starring in television series such as Pie In The Sky (1994-97).
