Under contract at MGM from her teens, Grayson came to notice with supporting roles in popular films such as Anchors Aweigh (1945) and Till The Clouds Roll By (1946). She soon graduated to leads in further hit musicals including Showboat (1951), The Desert Song (1953) and Kiss Me Kate (1953).
