A prolific performer on television, Duguid had fleeting roles in films including This Sporting Life (1963) before moving full time behind the camera. He directed a variety of series and single dramas such as The Wednesday Play (1965-66), Public Eye (1968-71), Callan (1967-72) and The Hound of the Baskervilles (1982).
