An engaging, always interesting presence on screen, Crowden was familiar to television viewers for his roles in A Very Peculiar Practice (1986-88) and the sitcom Waiting For God (1990-94). He was a favourite of Lindsay Anderson, appearing in his films If.... (1968), Oh Lucky Man! (1973) and Britannia Hospital (1982).
