Starting out in the 1950s, Cooke forged a particular bond with director John Schlesinger. He was sound editor on Billy Liar (1963) and Darling (1965) and editor on Far From The Madding Crowd (1967). Other credits include Peeping Tom (1960), Theatre of Blood (1973), Flash Gordon (1980) and Supergirl (1984).
