The last surviving member of John Ford’s informal company of actors, Carey Jr. followed his father into movies and became similarly identified in the western genre. His best known films include Red River (1948), Three Godfathers (1948), She Wore A Yellow Ribbon (1949), Rio Grande (1950) and The Searchers (1956).
