Although she had a long career, Byron will be best remembered as the fiery Sister Ruth in Powell and Pressburger’s Black Narcissus (1947). She also appeared in The Silver Fleet (1943), The Small Back Room (1949), worked extensively on television, and took a key role in Saving Private Ryan (1998).
