An influential champion of Asian and independent European cinema in his role as co-chairman of Fortissimo Films, Barendrecht produced such well regarded films as Springtime In A Small Town (2002), Getting Home (2007), Tokyo Sonata (2008) and Face (2009). He also executive produced boundary testing tales, including like Shortbus (2006).
