Will Wright: A Life in Pixels

Posted: 3 Jan 2012

Will Wright, the SimCity and Spore designer, has spoken about his back catalogue of video games as he reflected on his career so far.

The 2007 Video Games Awards saw the first time the Academy’s highest honour, the Fellowship, was awarded to an individual from the games industry – with the legendary games designer receiving the honour. No surprise given Wright has been at the forefront of games development for over twenty five years.

In 2007 he also delivered the Academy’s Annual Video Games Lecture where he spoke to BAFTA members in Los Angeles – coinciding with the annual E3 Games Expo, about his back catalogue of games and the ideas and methods behind each one.

“It’s very distracting, to be always reverse-engineering the world around you.” – Will Wright
