Photographer Ian Derry captured a series of images of BAFTA winners past and present for this collection, ahead of the Arqiva British Academy Television Awards in 2012.
“As this was a shoot for the BAFTA Television Awards, I wanted to create an environment around a TV. We had a set built with a window and a hallway to make it look more believable and three-dimensional. The camera doesn’t really move through the whole set, its more the different people and their different positions and emotions which makes each photo individual. From Ant falling asleep on Dec’s shoulder and Julie Walters dressed up eating a bowl of chips, they are all believable but sometimes a bit tongue in cheek. The only time we moved off the sofa was for one shot of Julie Walters dusting her BAFTAs, of which she has seven.”
