Peter Bennett-Jones: Annual Television Lecture in 2011

Posted: 18 Sep 2011

On 19 September 2011 the Academy’s Annual Television Lecture was delivered by Peter-Bennett Jones, who took the opportunity to share his views on creative excellence in today’s TV industry.

Bennett-Jones argued fervently for more socially ambitious programming in his lecture, calling for content producers to place a greater emphasis on social issues so that television may be put to its full potential as an agent for positive change.

Bennett-Jones has developed some of the finest talents in comedy, as well as founding one of the UK’s best known production companies, Tiger Aspect Group. At the 2011 BAFTA Television Awards he received the Special Award for his contribution to his craft and his involvement with the Comic Relief and Sport Relief projects.

“Anyone who sees TV as anything other than the dominant media platform is plain wrong. It is this dominance which generates our responsibility to do better,” he said.
