Michael Palin, British actor, writer and original Monty Python member, has opened up about his career in film and television.

The veteran performer, writer and broadcaster has over 30 years experience on our screens. Rising to popularity with Monty Python in the early 70s and with films like A Fish Called Wanda and TV series including Sahara and Himalaya.

Talking career highlights

Palin gave a hugely entertaining insight into his career while speaking to film critic Mark Kermode as part of a special ‘A Life in Pictures’ event on 17 March 2015. In an onstage interview conducted by David Walliams he discussed his Monty Python colleagues candidly and recounted hilarious tales from his memories of filming programmes such as The Complete and Utter History of Britain (1969) and Ripping Yarns (1976–1979).

He also shared his careers highlights included the challenges of turning the Python sketches into a big screen venture for The Holy Grail and his shock at beating Robert De Niro to the part of Jack Lint in Terry Gilliam’s dystopian fantasy Brazil.
