Gary Oldman, the renowned Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and Dracula actor has shared how he always felt like “acting in the movies was always something ‘other’ people did”.
Talking about his career during a special Life in Pictures interview with Francine Stock on 18 September 2011, he shared everything from how he was rejected from RADA at the start of his career through to his later success.
Critical acclaim
Over the years Oldman has received critical acclaim for his performances. He is well-known for his visceral portrayal of Dracula in Francis Ford Coppola’s Bram Stoker’s Dracula – a romance rather than a horror film in his book. And his compelling Lee Harvey Oswald in Oliver Stone’s JFK is another one of his recognisable roles.
With each performance Oldman shows a remarkable ability to metamorphose into a broad range of roles. His career has spanned three decades with huge critical and commercial success and his directorial debut, Nil by Mouth, earned him two BAFTA Film Awards.
