Sustainability is an important topic that touches all of our work.  A more environmentally sustainable future is possible for the creative industries but none of us can do it alone.

That’s why we are proud to be able to share a wide range of resources to help get you started on your film and TV sustainability journey. Created by world-class environmental sustainability experts BAFTA albert they offer lots of practical advice to help you in your work.

Production resources

Production handbook

Want to make greener productions but don’t know where to begin? Our handbook is full of tips, advice and case studies from your peers to help you make sustainable changes to the way you work.

Case studies

Learn from the productions that have already proven they can be sustainable. From short films to big budget Hollywood features, we have case studies covering every genre of production.

Training

Hop on to our free training to get up to speed with the latest climate science and practical examples of ways productions can reduce their environmental impact.

Content resources

If you’re a writer, director, producer or part of an editorial team, it’s time to reflect the changing climate in your stories. We have several resources to help your stories save the world!

Case studies

We have great examples from film and TV to inspire you. From I May Destroy You to Big Zuu’s Big Eats, there’s always a way to get climate into your content.

Editorial Engagement Tool

Already included climate content in your story or show idea? Put it to the test using our Editorial Engagement Tool. The tool is designed to help writers find ways to address climate change in their stories.

Discover the Carbon calculator

You can’t reduce what you don’t measure. Our calculator allows you to assess the impact of your production in various areas, including travel and transport, materials, filming and non-filming spaces, waste disposal, accommodation and post-production.

Create a Carbon Action Plan

Carbon Action Plan (CAP): The CAP is designed for those productions that not only want to measure their carbon footprint but actively take steps to reduce it. Productions that successfully complete it are awarded a digital certification logo that can be added to the production’s endboard.

What is BAFTA albert?

albert is the screen industry organisation for environmental sustainability in film and TV. We believe the screen industries offer the greatest opportunity to mobilise positive action for the planet.

If you’re working in a production commissioned by any of the major UK broadcasters, you will end up working with the albert toolkit. The albert toolkit consists of our carbon calculator and Carbon Action Plan (CAP).
