Amy Hennig, award-winning game director, script writer, and creative force behind the bestselling Uncharted video game series has been honoured with a special BAFTA.

Hennig, was recognised for her outstanding contribution to the industry which has seen her work pick up numerous awards during a 26 year career in games development. This success includes the four BAFTAs the Uncharted video game series – which she was writer and creative director on – received in 2010. The series swept the board with wins in the Action, Use of Audio, Original Score and Story categories for Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.

A leading woman in games

Cited as one of the most influential women in the game industry Hennig has personally received two awards from the Writers Guild of America and numerous other industry accolades.

Harvey Elliot, Chairman of BAFTA’s Games Committee describes her as: “one of the industry’s most successful and respected creative leaders”.

Now she can add being a BAFTA Special Award recipient to her list of career credits.

A quick career timeline 

In 2016 Hennig joined Electronic Arts as the creative director and lead writer on Visceral Games’ upcoming Star Wars title. She joined EA after a decade at Naughty Dog as the creative director and writer of Sony Computer Entertainment’s acclaimed Uncharted game series.  Prior to joining Naughty Dog in 2003, she served as the writer and director of the Soul Reaver / Legacy of Kain series over eight years at Crystal Dynamics.

Hennig was presented her special award at a BAFTA Los Angeles event hosted by actress Alison Haislip on Sunday 12 June, 2016.
