The Competition is run by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA). All entries must be made in accordance with the following Terms & Conditions.
These Terms & Conditions include details about how to enter the Competition, opening and closing dates, prize details, and anything else BAFTA thinks you may need to know about entering the Competition.
By entering the Competition, you agree to follow and be bound by these Rules (which may be amended or varied at any time by BAFTA with notice) and by BAFTA’s decision, which is final in all matters relating to these Rules, the Competition, the winner selection and/or the results; no correspondence or discussion shall be entered into.
Who can enter?
- You must be aged between ten (10) and eighteen (18) years on the closing date of the competition and obtain parental consent if under eighteen (18).
- You must live in the UK to enter the Competition.
- Entrants can only apply as individuals. Joint entries will not be considered.
- You are not allowed to enter the Competition if you or any of your family members are employees of BAFTA or any sponsors associated with the Competition or their respective associated companies.
Stage One
- The closing date for entries is Thursday 17 April 2025, 5pm.
- Video entries must be no longer than 2 minutes in duration and videos submitted must be under 100 MB. Videos must be submitted in a Quicktime or MP4 format.
- BAFTA accepts no responsibility for entries not received. Proof of sending is not proof of receipt. Incomplete and/or late entries will not be accepted.
- All entrants require their parent or guardian’s consent to enter, unless they are aged 18, and their parent or guardian must agree to these Terms and Conditions for themselves and on behalf of the entrant. By entering this Competition each entrant confirms that they have obtained such consent and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
- An independent jury will select eight (8) entries from the eligible entries submitted, to be shortlisted to progress to Stage Two of the Competition. Four (4) entries will be from the age category 10-14 and four entries (4) will be from the age category 15-18.
- The eight entrants who are shortlisted to progress to Stage Two of the Competition will be notified via the parent or guardian’s email supplied on the entry form. This email will include a parental consent form. If an entrant is 18 years old, they may be contacted directly.
- The shortlisted entrant’s parent or guardian must reply to confirm receipt of the email in order for the entry to progress to Stage Two of the Competition. Availability to attend a final panel on Saturday 14 June 2025 at BAFTA HQ, 195 Piccadilly, London W1J 9LN must also be confirmed within this reply. Exact timings tbc. Travel expenses will be covered for finalist plus one chaperone if the finalist is aged under 18.
- If no confirmation of receipt and/or completed parental consent form is received by the relevant deadline, BAFTA reserves the right to select an alternative entry to progress to Stage Two, which will be selected by an independent jury, from all other eligible entries received.
Stage Two
- As part of this second stage of the Competition, BAFTA may use content which features shortlisted candidates on any of its digital channels.
- An independent jury will select two winners of the Competition from the eight entries which progressed to Stage Two. One winner will be in the age category 10-14 and one winner will be in the age category 15-18.
- If the winners’ parent or guardian is unable to confirm that they are able to accept the prize, BAFTA reserves the right to award the prize to another of the Stage Two entries which will be selected by an independent jury.
The overall prize
- The winners of the Competition will work with BAFTA’s production team to produce content for the Young BAFTA YouTube channel. This may include online interviews with BAFTA nominees and Award winners; online interviews with contributors to BAFTA events and panels.
- The winners will be invited to attend an event/s at BAFTA HQ, 195 Piccadilly, London W1J 9LN for the purpose of hosting a live event and/or filming interviews and producing content for BAFTA.
- Additional opportunities may arise and are under constant review.
General
- No purchase is necessary.
- Only one entry per person via online route of entry, and no bulk or third party entries are permitted. The entrant must be the presenter in their video entry.
- By taking part, all entrants will be deemed to have accepted these Terms & Conditions and agreed to be bound by them. Entries that do not comply in full with these Terms & Conditions will be disqualified. All entry instructions form part of the Terms & Conditions.
- The decision made by BAFTA is final. No correspondence will be entered into.
- The prize is not transferable and no cash alternative is available.
- BAFTA reserves the right (a) to substitute alternative prizes of equivalent or greater value or (b) in exceptional circumstances to vary, amend or withdraw this prize draw on reasonable notice.
- BAFTA may use, in any and all media throughout the world forever as BAFTA in its sole opinion sees fit, the video entry and the name, likeness, image or biographical information of the entrants who progress to Stage Two, without payment or further consideration. The prize winner’s name will be available on request sending a SAE to BAFTA and specifying which competition you are inquiring about. - Except in the case of death or personal injury arising from its negligence or in respect of fraud and so far as is permitted by law, BAFTA and its associated companies exclude responsibility and all liabilities arising from any postponement, cancellation, delay or changes to the prize details beyond BAFTA’s control.
The Competition, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with it, shall be governed by and construed in accordance with English law. You irrevocably agree that the courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute or claim that arises out of or in connection with the Competition.
