Sarah Conner is an experienced producer-director whose passion for science and the natural world prompted her to change career from science academic to making factual TV. For Sarah, it’s not just about entertainment, she wants to inspire others to engage and learn more to help drive positive change.
Her industry journey spans more than a decade, directing multiple simultaneous shoots, multicamera shoots, both in-person and remotely, in some of the most complex and extreme environments in the world. She’s well practiced in managing multiple stakeholders and leading large creative teams of up to 25 people.
Sarah’s commissions include the BBC, Netflix, Apple, Discovery and National Geographic, with credits ranging from blue chip natural history and high-end presenter and contributor-led science programmes to big budget expedition and frontline observational documentaries. These include the multiple BAFTA-winning Blue Planet II (2017) and its forthcoming third series; Our Great National Parks (2022); and Frozen Planet II (2022), among others. She has taken multiple edits through offline to delivery, from recording commentary and narration to final mix, including Barak Obama and Sir David Attenborough. She’s managed graphical effects production teams and worked with composers to create bespoke soundtracks.
Sarah also hopes to support an industry move towards a more inclusive and healthy working environment. She mentors underrepresented new entrants, researchers and assistant producers, and is part of the BBC’s Diversity and Inclusion working group. She is also a BAFTA Connect member, an EITF Ones to Watch, a Wonder Women Mentee and part of the TRC/ScreenSkills Series Producer Programme 2023.
