Alice Rohrwacher: Screenwriters’ Lecture
In conversation with... Stacey Dooley
Samaira won the 2021 BAFTA Young Presenter competition and started her BAFTA Young Presenter journey by interviewing her idol, Jesse Lingard. She has just started her studies in International Relations at SOAS University (School of Oriental and African Studies) in London and was recently able to combine her love of football with her passion for the creative industries by shadowing a producer at Talksport.
Since joining the Young BAFTA family Samaira has interviewed everyone from Dame Judi Dench and Emilia Jones to the cast of CBBC’s Lagging. Samaira also attended the A Boy Called Christmas premiere, where she interviewed multi-award winning writer, Matt Haig.
In 2023, Samaira was presented with an Inspiring Muslims Award by the Mayor Of London, Sadiq Khan – where she used the opportunity to teach the audience of 30,000 people how to sign ‘Eid Mubarak’ in British Sign Language. Since then Samaira has also presented the Inspiring Muslims Awards 2024 in Trafalgar Square, been nominated for ‘Excellence in Media’ at the Muslim News Awards and been included in the ‘Top 100 Inspiring Muslims – Next Gen’ by Emerald Network X Aziz Foundation.
