Olaide’s breakthrough project is the feature-length documentary Grenfell: Uncovered.
There is a righteous fury in Olaide Sadiq’s breakthrough film, Grenfell: Uncovered (2025) driven by a commitment to honouring survivors, bereaved families, and the wider community affected by the tragedy. The Londoner spent over a year embedded in the community with those who are still searching for answers, approaching their stories with care whilst seeking clarity, accountability and justice. The resulting documentary is a shocking and heartrending exposé of the events, causes, and repercussions, or lack thereof, that led to 72 preventable deaths.
Given Olaide’s innate interest in people, Grenfell: Uncovered’s powerful social and political conscience is perhaps no surprise. She describes her young self as “the curious kid in school” who wanted to know what was going on and didn’t shy from asking questions. She transferred that inquisitiveness into documentary and factual TV, starting out in development initially, before transitioning over to production and working on a range of documentary series and single films. Olaide’s recent producer credits include: Rio Ferdinand’s Tipping Point (2022), Louis Theroux Interviews… (2023) and The Final: Attack on Wembley (2024). Grenfell: Uncovered marks her directorial debut.
In their own words…
“Every now and then, I feel on borrowed time in this industry, carrying the weight of imposter syndrome that so many of us know. Yet creating meaningful, engaging projects and telling people’s stories in a compelling way reminds me that I’m earning my place, and I’m on a journey that my younger self would be proud of. Since completing Grenfell: Uncovered, I’ve been figuring out the next chapter of my career which has been hard. The industry’s currently going through a difficult time, so opportunities feel fewer and choices feel bigger. To be selected onto Breakthrough is such a privilege and I’m really looking forward to connecting with others who share my passion for creating, but also just a real love for their craft. I want to keep learning, keep growing, and be part of a community where we can support one another throughout the year ahead.”
