Neeraj’s Breakthrough project is the game Artifice: War Tactics

Neeraj Kumar co-founded a gaming startup, Ogre Head Studio, in 2014, where he worked as the solo programmer and successfully launched Asura: Vengeance Edition (2017), an engaging hack-and-slash rogue-like based on classic Indian mythology. He also collaborated with various clients on other game development projects and concepts.

In 2020, he founded Silvine Game Studios, aiming to build on Asura’s legacy by crafting games that “redefine the Indian landscape” and create memorable experiences that inspire others to follow their passion. This life motto is one that Neeraj has clearly adhered to, drawing on a childhood spent playing classics like Contra, Pokemon, Counter-Strike, and, in particular, the Half-Life series to pursue his dream of working in games.

The first fruits of Silvine’s hard work came with the recent release of the tactical turn-based rogue-like Artifice: War Tactics (2024) on Steam. These milestones are part of a 15-year-long journey in the gaming industry, during which Neeraj has consistently demonstrated his passion for creating unique and impactful gaming experiences.

In their own words…

“Being selected for BAFTA Breakthrough is a significant milestone in my career. It’s a great honour to be recognised by such a prestigious platform that celebrates and supports emerging creative talent. This opportunity not only validates my journey in the gaming industry but also excites me for the future. The access to its global mentorship, networking and learning experiences will be invaluable as I continue to create games that can inspire others. I’m looking forward to growing alongside other talented individuals and representing Indian game development on an international stage.”
