Nafisa Kaptownwala

Casting Director

Nafisa Kaptownwala is a Casting Director hailing from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. After obtaining her Arts History degree from Concordia University, Nafisa recognized a glaring need for better representation in the modeling industry. In response, she founded Lorde Inc. in 2013, the first modeling agency exclusively dedicated to representing talent of color, with a mission to advocate for equitable casting.

Her innovative approach to talent management quickly garnered attention and offered opportunities to transition into Casting Direction for fashion projects. Finding her true passion in casting, Nafisa discovered a profound sense of empowerment in shaping narratives through casting. To further hone her skills, she assisted under-esteemed casting directors gaining valuable experience in the realms of film and television.

In 2022, Nafisa co-founded In Search Of agency with Natalie Lin, a pivotal move that set the stage for their groundbreaking project, “Didi,” directed by Sean Wang. Nafisa Kaptownwala’s journey represents a fusion of creativity, advocacy, and a steadfast commitment to driving inclusive storytelling in the entertainment industry.
