(She/Her)

Marie-Elena’s breakthrough project is the feature film Harvest.

It’s important to producer Marie-Elena that her films have something to say and can challenge social and political norms. Her choices to date have been both impactful and very well received, including the BAFTA-nominated Blue Jean (2022, co-producer), the Cannes Un Certain Regard-winning How to Have Sex (2023, line producer), breakthrough project, Harvest (2024), and recently released Dragonfly (2025, both producer). Her latest production, Mission, is currently in post.

Making such conversation-starting films is surprising given Marie-Elena admits she was extremely shy as a child growing up in north London. She also struggled with imposter syndrome while studying at the NFTS, finding her working-class background at odds with her peers’ experiences and being overly conscious she didn’t speak like everyone else. Thankfully, her passion for producing films has won out, helping her overcome her insecurities and become very much a people person, dedicated to making bold films that are both entertaining and have social impact.

In their own words…

“BAFTA Breakthrough has given me encouragement to keep on the same track and trust in my instincts. It proves to me that I shouldn’t shy away from those films that are hard-hitting and hard to sell. We can’t just make safe films. I want to make films that are challenging, with stories you wouldn’t expect or about a person or aspect of society that has been forgotten… I hope to build a network of other emerging talent, and find the writers and directors who will harness stories that really hit me or have a big heart at their core.”
