Maia Adelia
BAFTA Rosemarie Nathanson Scholar
Maia Adelia is awarded the BAFTA Scholarship to support her studies in the Factual Development and Production course at the National Film and Television School. Maia was working an office job to pay the bills when she spotted a tweet by the Director Liana Stewart who was looking for a Researcher for Jay Blades: Learning to Read at 51, – and her first role on this Grierson-shortlisted documentary marked the start of a successful early career.
Credits as an Assistant Producer include The Good Fight Club (Sky Documentaries), Changemakers (Paramount+) and Danny Dyer: 21st Century Man (Channel 4), Maia wants to seek out stories where there is more than meets the eye, challenging an audience’s perceptions will always be at the forefront of what she wants to achieve through producing.
Maia said:
“I feel honoured and so grateful to be chosen for the BAFTA scholarship programme which will allow me to study at NFTS and be equipped in a sector of the industry that I am less knowledgeable about.
I got into the factual industry without formal qualifications, a degree or connections, which has meant that, until now, I have always had to manage my own career so the support and advice from a BAFTA mentor will be invaluable. I am unbelievably excited to see what the future holds.”
