Born in Merseyside, UK, Esther Okorocha is a writer/filmmaker who is awarded the Pigott-BAFTA Scholarship. After graduating from the University of York with a First Class Honours in English and Related Literature, she was shortlisted for The Guardian and 4th Estate 4thWrite Short Story Prize. Here, she submitted her first short story ‘Back of House: The Chef de Cuisine of The Mating Clinic’.
Her first short experimental film, The Big Routine, was recently selected for the GRRL HAUS Cinema Film Festival (2024). She is enrolled in the Film and Television MFA program at UCLA, with a concentration in Screenwriting (Features) and seeks to create works which explore the lives of unconventional black women.
