Ellie Lewis, a makeup artist from Merseyside, is awarded the Prince William BAFTA Scholarship to support her completion of the Intensive SFX, Hair & Makeup course at the Christine Blundell Makeup Academy for Film & Television. With a longstanding aspiration to work in film and a background in fine arts, she decided to bring the characters on screen to life through her artistry. After earning a degree in Cinema & Photography from the University of Leeds, she specialised in hair and makeup.

“I am incredibly honoured to receive the BAFTA scholarship. I have often felt out of my depth in previous experiences within the industry and was uncertain about how to navigate my way forward. The financial support and mentorship from BAFTA will make a remarkable difference in my journey toward achieving my dream career. Being awarded this opportunity is incredibly validating, affirming that I am on the right path. This is a chance that I, and many others like me, may never have had otherwise, and for that, I am truly grateful and excited for what the future holds.”

Ellie began her career with creative and experimental makeup, working both freelance and with online brands, including Paramount Plus and Bandai Namco. Since then, she has gained two feature film credits as a Hair & Makeup Trainee, including a role in Andrea Arnold’s Bird. With BAFTA’s support, Ellie is eager to further develop the skills necessary to advance her career in the screen industries and continue pushing the boundaries of her creativity.
