Dhiman’s breakthrough project is the film Amar Singh Chamkila.

Dhiman Karmakar has worked in the sound department of everything from shorts to feature-length films and mini-series to television shows, in various sound department capacities, including sound mixing, dialogue editing, production mixing and sound design. Along the way, he’s worked with such renowned film directors as Imtiaz Ali, Anurag Kashyap, Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari and Neeraj Ghaywan, and for such studios as Window Seat Films, Good Bad Films, Fox Star Studios and Red Chillies Entertainment, Excel Entertainment among others.

The past few years have been particularly busy for Dhiman; and his work has complemented – and complimented – the action in the likes of To Kill a Tiger (2022) (additional production mixer), Joram (2023), The Indrani Mukerjea Story: Buried Truth, an episode of Love Storiyaan called ‘Love on Air’ and Amar Singh Chamkila (all 2024), all available to stream on either Amazon Prime or Netflix.

In their own words…

“Last year, I finished the most challenging projects of my life, and being selected as a BAFTA Breakthrough is the most exciting achievement of my journey. As a sound designer, most of the time, our craft remains unnoticed in our industry. I believe that this year-long initiative will help me grow as an artist. I’m hoping it will open up my chances to meet and collaborate with more filmmakers and creative professionals on both national and international projects.”
