Ava Rogerson, 20, from Amersham is awarded the BAFTA Scholarship to support her completion of Games Art and Design at Norwich University of the Arts, where she specialises in concept art.

Her work often explores unusual themes and ideas, with a particular interest in prehistory, speculative evolution and culture. Inspired by art in all its forms, she is especially passionate about storytelling, which is often the focus and driving force behind her designs.

Ava has been involved with the BAFTA community since 2022, when she reached the finals of the BAFTA Young Game Designers competition in the 15 to 18 Game Concept Award. The following year, she won the award with her game concept Bounce Bat.

While she has faced challenges related to anxiety and autism, Ava has continued to push herself beyond her comfort zone and embrace new opportunities. With support from BAFTA along the way, she has taken on a variety of new challenges and experiences that have helped build her confidence as a creative.

She says: “I am so honoured to have been awarded this scholarship. This funding will really support me through my second year of studies and take away a lot of the financial worry. I am incredibly grateful to BAFTA for investing in my education and my future as a creative, and I am excited to continue my course knowing I have that support behind me.”
