EE British Academy Film Awards in 2013 - Winners Acceptance Speech: Supporting Actress

10 February 2013
BAFTA winners at the Royal Opera House collecting their awards from a range of presenters at the EE British Academy Film Awards ceremony on Sun 10 Feb 2013.

Acceptance speech by Anne Hathaway, winner of the Supporting Actress category for Les Misérables at the EE Britsh Academy Film Awards in 2013.

ANNE HATHAWAY:  What am I thinking?!  I almost walked past George Clooney without hugging him!  That is just -- that's just stupid.

Oh my goodness, thank you BAFTA, I am so honoured.  I am so relieved I am coming down with laryngitis because the location, the giddiness, this could be a recipe for disaster, I might sing.  Anyway, that didn't go over well; it went better in my head.

I share this with the cast and the crew of Les Misérables, who are the most golden-hearted group of loves whose talent knocked me sideways every day.

I must give special thanks to Paul Gooch, my hair and make up artist who was an oasis of calm, Tom Hooper, thank you for the grandness of your dreams and the ability to make them come true.

Thank you to Hugh Jackman, I have run out of superlatives for you, man, you are just the best.

And oh God, and Eddie, feel better.  I mean, I would be holding your hair back but, you know.  Tells you what kind of a friend I am.  Food poisoning is just the worst.

I have to thank Claude-Michel Schönberg, Alain Boublil, Herbie Kretzmer, Cameron Mackintosh and everyone responsible for making Les Mis the theatrical juggernaut that it is, and thank you to Working Title, Universal, Debra Hayward, for seeing that the show had somewhere else to go.  And of course, my very special thanks are reserved for Victor Hugo, without whom none of this -- none of us would be here.  Thank you so much honey, I love you.
