Winners announced: BAFTA Scotland Awards 2025

  • James McArdle (Four Mothers) and Saoirse Ronan (The Outrun) receive the Actor Film/Television and Actress Film/Television awards.  
  • The Outrun director Nora Fingscheidt wins for Director Fiction. 
  • On Falling wins two awards (Feature Film, and Laura Carreira for Writer Film/Television) 
  • The Hunt for Peter Tobin also wins two awards (Factual Series and Director Factual for Matt Pinder) 
  • Lockerbie: A Search for Truth wins the award for Television Scripted. 
  • The BAFTA Scotland Audience Award for Favourite Scot on Screen (in partnership with Screen Scotland) goes to Sheli McCoy for her performance in Gladiators. 

BAFTA announces the winners of the BAFTA Scotland Awards 2025 at a special ceremony in Glasgow, hosted by presenter Edith Bowman. Actor Ewan McGregor attended to accept the Outstanding Contribution to Film & Television honour, whilst Location, Location, Location received recognition for its Outstanding Contribution to Scotland’s Screen Industry. The BAFTA Scotland Awards honour excellence and celebrate talent across Scotland’s screen industries.

Lockerbie: A Search for Truth received the award for Television Scripted.  

On Falling scooped two awards on the night. It was awarded for Feature Film, and debut feature filmmaker Laura Carreira was awarded Writer Film/Television 

Saoirse Ronan received the award for Actress Film/Television for her performance in The Outrun, whilst the film’s director Nora Fingscheidt took home the Director Fiction award. In Actor Film/Television, James McArdle triumphed for his role in Four Mothers.  

The BAFTA Scotland Audience Award in partnership with Screen Scotland, the only BAFTA Scotland Award voted for by the public, went to Sheli McCoy, better known as Sabre, for Gladiators 

Matt Pinder received the award for Director Factual for his work on The Hunt for Peter Tobin, which also won in Factual Series 

All Aboard! Scotland’s Poshest Train, fronted by Alan Cumming, clinched the award for Factual Entertainment. Meanwhile, Entertainment went to Up Late with Nicola Benedetti. 

imagine… The Academy of Armando, focusing on celebrated comedy writer Armando Iannucci, received the award for Single Documentary. News and Current Affairs was awarded to Kids in the Psychiatric Ward (Disclosure).  

The Short Film & Animation category was won by Paternal Advice. 

The team behind the long-running series Location, Location, Location – including presenter Phil Spencer and Head of Popular Factual at IWC Media, Gerard Costello received the Outstanding Contribution to Scotland’s Screen Industry. One of BAFTA Scotland’s highest accolades, the award celebrates the impact the Scotland-produced programme has had on the local industry and workforce.   

Ewan McGregor was presented with the Outstanding Contribution to Film & Television, given in recognition of an exceptional standard of work across a long career, by his uncle and fellow actor Denis Lawson. Further information, as previously announced, is found here.

13 competitive awards in total were presented across the evening as well as two BAFTA special awards, and the BAFTA Scotland Audience Award. View the full list of winners here.

A highlights programme will be broadcast on BBC Scotland at 9pm on Wednesday 19 November, with a repeat that same night at 11.30pm on BBC One Scotland and will also be available to watch on BBC iPlayer. A compilation of winners’ speeches will be uploaded to BAFTA’s YouTube channel.
