The P&O Cruises Memorable Moment Award honours the impact of television in the UK and its power to entertain, inform and bring the nation together. The nominations were compiled by a carefully appointed and esteemed independent jury of influential TV critics as well as  TV personality, former Love Island contestant and P&O Cruises brand ambassador, Amy Hart, showcasing key moments from 2023 that reflect the power of TV. BAFTA’s Television Committee Chair, Hilary Rosen chaired the jury.

Voting will close on Tuesday 9th April 2024. The winner will be announced at the BAFTA Television Awards with P&O Cruises on Sunday 12 May 2024.

The six nominated memorable moments are:

●       Beckham (Netflix) - David teases Victoria about her ‘working class’ upbringing

●       Doctor Who (BBC One) - Ncuti Gatwa being revealed as the 15th Doctor

●       Happy Valley (BBC One) - Catherine Cawood and Tommy Lee Royce’s final kitchen showdown

●       Succession (Sky Atlantic) - Logan Roy’s Death

●       The Last Of Us (Sky Atlantic) - Bill and Frank

●       The Piano (Channel 4) - 13-year old Lucy stuns commuters with jaw dropping piano performance

Members of the public can vote for their P&O Cruises Memorable Moment online via https://publicvote.bafta.org/po-cruises-memorable-moment. Voters will have the opportunity to enter a prize draw to win one of 100 pairs of ceremony tickets to the BAFTA Television Awards with P&O Cruises if they enter between 14th March and 9th April.

Paul Ludlow, P&O Cruises president, said: “Once again, there were so many unforgettable scenes that took place on our television screens last year. The jurors have done a fantastic job in selecting the final shortlist and I hope that the public have enjoyed these and will vote for their favourite memorable TV moment of the year.”

Hilary Rosen, Chair of BAFTA’s Television Committee, said: “Convening lively debate on the best TV water-cooler moments of 2023 as part of the Memorable Moment jury was a real pleasure – I’m so pleased that the resulting nominations span a great range of budgets, broadcasters and streamers, and genres, demonstrating impact can be achieved in so many creative ways. We are so looking forward to seeing the conversations it sparks amongst viewers at home, and who they will award on the night.”

Amy Hart, P&O Cruises ambassador added: “I am super proud to be part of this year’s Memorable Moment jury as part of my role as P&O Cruises ambassador. I was a bit nervous before meeting the rest of the jury as they are TV critics whose work I revere, but I needn’t have worried as we all have one thing in common - we LOVE television. As a kid growing up in a small town, I was obsessed with TV; how it can inspire, delight, shock, entertain, educate and change people’s lives - little did I know then that I would have my own life changed by television years later when I went into the Love Island villa. Last year did not disappoint in the memorable moment department, and we have our brilliant shortlist.  For me personally, being involved as a member of the jury is one of my life’s memorable moments!”

The BAFTA Television Awards are an annual showcase of the exceptional storytelling, creativity and craft of British and international television and the people who bring it to life, across all TV genres. This year’s awards will once again take place at The Royal Festival Hall in London, with nominations out next week on Wednesday 20 March at 12pm (GMT) and further details about the show to be unveiled soon.
