DERMOT O’LEARY: I’m with Tom Hiddleston. Hello sir. You look resplendent.
A. As you do.
Q. You’ve had stuff designed especially for you.
A. This is Mr Armani, Giorgio Armani.
Q. You have him on speed dial and said listen, I’ve got this award show coming up and — you are citation reading tonight?
A. I am.
Q. I’ve seen you citation read, you are a great citation reader.
A. Thank you kindly. When did you see me citation read?
Q. At the Empire Awards. You go off script, you freestyle.
A. I like to freestyle. I speak from the heart, always from the heart.
Q. Do you get excited or do you get nervous about this kind of thing when you have to —
A. I get really excited by it because you get to meet your heroes and also it’s such a celebration of the year and cinema and all the great films that we’ve seen and there are some really great films this year.
Q. Brilliant.
A. Yes.
Q. You were up for rising star last year.
A. I was.
Q. Were you this time last year —
A. I was really terrified. I was hugely flattered but the thing that’s so terrifying is that you might actually have to say something in front of all the people you respect and admire. There’s Martin Scorsese and you think okay so Martin Scorsese is in the audience tonight. What if I win and have to say something that he will definitively hear.
Q. Or potential employers.
A. Yeah, what if I say something rubbish.
Q. “He’ll never work again”. Okay, what have you got coming next year?
A. We’ve just finished Thor 2, Thor The Dark World. We literally finished about three weeks ago so I took a bit of a break and I went to West Africa with UNICEF on a trip to see their work in the field and the children and I’ve got something that I’m not allowed to tell you about so that’s as much as I can say.
Q. Oh that’s great! Listen, have a great night tonight. Thank you very much.
