DERMOT O’LEARY:  Ben Affleck, how are you?  Nice to meet you, sir.  Are you well?

BEN AFFLECK:  Nice to see you.  I am.  I’m well.  How come you are the only dry person.

Q.        Actually, I’ve got — the gods are looking out — are smiling on us here.  How are you feeling tonight?  Excited?

A.        Great, very excited.  Have not been here — I’ve not ever been nominated, have not ever been invited.  So, I’m really — it feels very special to me to come here tonight.

Q.        After doing two pet projects, passion projects, in Gone Baby Gone and The Town, when you got a big thing like Argo land on your desk, how do you feel about that?

A.        It was intimidating, I mean, you know, it’s like three continents and a lot of different actors and a lot of tones, so I just wondered, you know, am I going to be able to make this work.  But I figured you either dive into it and do your best or give up.

Q.        And if any of this can be set in south Boston, that would be really great; right?

A.        Yes.  I wanted to be as far away from Boston as I could, and I ended up in Iran, so ..

Q.        You look good tonight.  Are you at home in a suit or when you at home would you be wearing a Bruins top or something?

A.        You know, I do like a suit, I like an excuse to wear a suit.  And if you, like, sneak in the name of the brands, they keep giving you free ones.

Q.        So I am sure there would not be anything you would like to do tonight?

A.        Oh, no.  Gucci — is that Gucci?  Oh, no, that’s him?

Q.        You’re thinking of someone else.  Good luck tonight.
