BAFTA today releases the longlist for the 2025 BAFTA Games Awards. 58 games have been selected by more than 1,300 BAFTA members, experienced games professionals working in the industry. The BAFTA Games Awards are the industry’s most prestigious awards that since 2004 have celebrated the best games of the year and the people who make them, as voted by their peers.

Tara Saunders, chair of BAFTA’s Games committee, said: “The BAFTA Games Awards longlist is our opportunity to celebrate a wide range of outstanding games ahead of the BAFTA nominations on 4 March next year. Today we’re shining a light on 58 games, as voted for by our wonderful BAFTA members – 1,300 industry professionals whose work brings games to life. It’s always an exciting time of year when everyone shares their lists for the best games of the year and I hope ours will be talked about and give players something new to discover and play with family and friends over the festive season.”

247 games were considered by BAFTA members this year, all released between 25 November 2023 and 15 November 2024. Each of the 58 longlisted games is now in the running for at least one BAFTA nomination across 17 competitive categories. BAFTA members will begin voting for the nominations in Best Game and British Game categories in January 2025, with specialist BAFTA juries voting for the other categories. The nominations will be announced on Tuesday 4 March 2025. Following the nominations, BAFTA members will vote for the winners in Best Game and British Game and BAFTA juries will vote for the winners in all other categories.

The winners will be announced at the 2025 BAFTA Games Awards on Tuesday 8 April. BAFTA’s annual Awards are one of the biggest events in the international games calendar, attended by the industry and having millions of views online.
