The British Academy of Film and Television Arts has today announced that the annual BAFTA Film Gala, in support of its charitable activities, will take place on Thursday 9 February at BAFTA 195 Piccadilly, ahead of the EE British Academy Film Awards on Sunday 12 February.

The BAFTA Film Gala raises funds for BAFTA’s essential charitable work in supporting young people from all backgrounds to enter the film, television and games industries, through the support of a BAFTA network that can help inspire and guide their careers. The money raised from last year’s Gala allowed BAFTA to deliver a host of initiatives including scholarships, masterclasses, mentoring and schools activities. Earlier today, BAFTA announced several new and enhanced skills development and showcasing initiatives for 2017, informed by the findings of its research report, which examines the career success factors of film, television and games practitioners from under-represented groups, commissioned in partnership with Creative Skillset and the BFI.

BAFTA supporters confirmed to attend the Film Gala include Colin and Livia Firth, Jason Isaacs, Anya Taylor Joy, Tom Bateman, Arinze Kene, Tom Ford, Maxine Peake, Russell Tovey, Samantha Barks and Jack Fox.

Guests will enjoy a dinner followed by silent and live auctions featuring film and television-related lots, including a private preview screening of the highly anticipated Wonder Woman, a behind-the-scenes experience on the set of the sequel to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, a set visit to The Crown, and a meet-and-greet with Jake Gyllenhaal following his show on Broadway, New York. The auction will be followed by an after party at BAFTA, with DJ Bella Freud.

The BAFTA Film Gala is sponsored by Emicapital and supported by Audi, BULLDOG Gin, Champagne Taittinger, Fisher Productions, Mad Dog Casting, Nespresso and Villa Maria Wines.

The BAFTA Film Gala forms part of a week of activity around London in the lead up to the EE British Academy Film Awards on Sunday 12 February at the Royal Albert Hall. The ceremony will be hosted by Stephen Fry and will be broadcast exclusively on BBC One and BBC One HD at 21.00. The ceremony is also broadcast in all major territories around the world. On the night of the awards, www.bafta.org will feature a live red carpet show from 16.30 as well as photography and winners interviews. Dedicated coverage will feature across social networks including Facebook (/BAFTA), Twitter (@BAFTA / #EEBAFTAs), Snapchat and Instagram.
