BAFTA and BAFTA albert announce new programme to raise awareness for impact production, to develop and upskill producers and creatives as impact producers, and to catalyse social and environmental change through screen content.
BAFTA has announced its Impact Production Campaign with the launch of the BAFTA albert Impact Producer Accelerator Programme – a series of workshops commencing in 2026 to raise awareness for this role in the screen arts; to provide Impact Producers with the tools they need to create ambitious campaigns; and to create networking opportunities with key decision makers.
BAFTA albert’s Impact Producer Accelerator Programme was launched at ‘Stories to Change the World,’ a BAFTA-led event with writer and director Richard Curtis (Love Actually, Four Weddings and a Funeral, Comic Relief) and director Damon Gameau (Future Council, 2040, That Sugar Film).
This event, the final in the 2025 BAFTA Green Light Series*, explored the role of Impact Producers and impact campaigns, to effect real world change instigated by on screen content. Richard Curtis and Damon Gameau both advocate for Impact Producers and campaigns within the screen industries.
Impact Producers create measurable strategies for issue-driven productions to engage communities best positioned to drive a desired social, political or cultural change – bridging the gap between stories on screen and their real-world outcomes. The announcement of BAFTA albert’s Impact Producer Accelerator Programme follows an intense period of scoping to understand how powerful screen content can be amplified to create social and environmental change.
Jane Millichip, CEO of BAFTA, said: “We have all witnessed the incredible impact storytelling can have on our society – think Ocean with David Attenborough, Mr Bates vs The Post Office and Toxic Town. Real issues, real lives, and real-world outcomes.
“Harnessing the power of screen content such at this, to change hearts and minds and create a more sustainable future, can only be a positive step for us all. By supporting and championing the role of Impact Producers, this programme from BAFTA albert, supported by BAFTA, will ensure that social change can continue long after the credits have stopped rolling.”
Catherine Ellis, Head of Climate Content, BAFTA albert, said: “I am delighted that we are announcing our Impact Producer Accelerator Programme today. We know the public want solutions for climate issues so how can we galvanise great storytelling to engage audiences to act? Impact Producers enable positive action from powerful films and TV programmes to build a better world. This programme is the culmination of months of research, and we are delighted to support the industry and impact producers with this work.”
Further details of BAFTA albert’s Impact Producer Accelerator Programme will be released in the coming weeks.

Introducing: Impact Producers – Climate Content
About Impact Producers
Impact producers bridge the gap between brilliant stories and real world outcomes. They can create tangible social, cultural, political and environmental change by working behind the scenes of issue driven productions. They ensure that the content doesn’t just reach audiences but inspires them to act.
Why it matters:
The entertainment sector is increasingly aware of its positive influence:
• 79% of organisations agree they would like to do more to ensure their content
has a positive impact
• 73% of organisations they would like more information on how to measure the
impact of their content

As the demand for meaningful content grows, so too does the need for skilled professionals who can ignite powerful moments on screen into action.
BAFTA albert’s Impact Producer Accelerator Programme builds upon the ever-growing body of climate content and environmental impact work from BAFTA albert. The announcement follows the publication of ACCELERATE 2025 earlier this week, albert’s landmark report providing twelve concrete, measurable actions for film and TV productions to reduce both carbon emissions and their wider environmental impact.
*BAFTA Green Light is a new season of events for 2025, exploring sustainability on and off screen for film, TV and Games, developed in collaboration with BAFTA albert.
