One of the first Indian actresses to achieve international recognition, Sehgal moved to the UK in 1962 where she worked at the Old Vic theatre before fronting BBC shows aimed at new migrants. Her screen credits included The Jewel In The Crown (1984), Bhaji On The Beach (1993) and Bend It Like Beckham (2002).
