An American stunt performer turned actor, whose big acting break came in the 1970s with a role as the resident blacksmith in television series The Waltons (1974-1977). Brimley would go on to prominently feature in a number of award-winning and popular films, including The China Syndrome (1979), The Thing (1982), The Natural (1984), Cocoon (1985) and The Firm (1993).
