A British actor who became synonymous with the role of Alf Garnett on Till Death Do Us Part (1966-1975), Mitchell would regularly reprise the role of the foul-mouthed bigot, most notably in In Sickness and in Health (1985-1992). His other credits included Help! (1965) and Jabberwocky (1977).
