Best known for his association with Italian auteur Federico Fellini, Pinelli co-wrote La Strada (1954) and La Dolce Vita (1960) with the director. They also collaborated on Il Miracolo (1948), I Vitelloni (1953) and The Nights of Cabiria (1957) and - after a long hiatus - reunited on Ginger And Fred (1986).
